DC’s "SHAZAM" First Look is so DOPE! Hoping A Huge DC Comeback. *Fingers Crossed*
After the seemingly unrelenting darkness of the DC Extended Universe‘s early years, director David F. Sandberg’s adaptation of Shazam! is going to take a much lighter approach.
Shazam movie stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, a troubled orphan kid who is granted the powers of Solomon (wisdom), Hercules (strength), Atlas (stamina), Zeus (power), Achilles (courage), and Mercury (speed). What does that spell? So when Billy speaks the magic word "Shazam" he is transformed into an adult version of himself, and that adult, god-powered version is played by Zachary Levi. And he comes complete with the kind of costume a little kid would dream up.
Zachary Levi posted a photo of himself and even though he has deleted the post, you can still check out the image below.
Another image also surfaced on Twitter, and it's a front view, one that further confirms they're going with the New 52 design. It really looks great.

The costume clearly takes inspiration from WB's Justice League: War animated movie (which is based on the Justice League: Origin comic book story), Morever, fans may also be able to spot a hidden homage to the classic DC character "Tawky Tawny" on the clasps for Shazam's hood (the tigers). While the homage doesn't mean the character will appear in the movie, it does add a bit of fan service to the design.
It also stars Mark Strong, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Jack Dylan Grazer and will be written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke.
Releasing this April 5th, 2019.
