The superhero sequel will feature the return of Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, now joined by Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne suiting up as the Wasp for the first time (after being teased in the original Ant-Man's mid-credits scene ). It's one of the most anticipated films of the year, in large part because the first film had such a perfect blend of humor, action, and character-work.
If you’re a Marvel fan, you’re probably feeling a little tender after the flood of noise, action and emotions that was Avengers: Infinity War. Luckily the new Ant-Man And The Wasp trailer is exactly the palate cleanser we need.
As Infinity War casts doubt over the future of Marvel's original line-up characters, Ant-Man and the Wasp looks set to usher in a new generation of heroes and the Wasp may not be the only one. In the trailer, Lang's daughter Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) sighs: "I wish I could fight bad guys like you."
The film is actually set shortly after the events of Captain America: Civil War. The trailer drives this point home right from the start, with a cool bit of dialogue between Ant-Man and the Wasp. Scott imagines another world, one in which he'd asked Hope to help Captain America out when he needed it. It's reinforced by flashbacks to the Airport Battle, where Ant-Man became Giant-Man for the first time.
The Peyton Reed-directed Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theaters on July 6th.
